Likbez on dermatological means of individual protection (DSIZ)

Not so long ago in the stores have become available previously unknown means for the skin. Since their field of application – face and hands – is similar to popular creams, the novelties did not cause a stir. As well as customary cosmetics, they have the usual packaging, which says “cream for the skin of hands and face.” But they should look closely: with an external similarity with cosmetics, they refer to dermatological personal protective equipment (DSIS). And first of all are protective, and only then – they take care of the skin and moisturize it.

Protection for the skin as one of the product categories has existed for a long time and is well known to employees of industries and enterprises. Most often, this group of funds is called abbreviated as DSIS. In Russia, they appeared in 2004 after the adoption of the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation “On the Approval of the Regulation on the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation.”

Under this document, the duties of the Ministry of Health include the approval of requirements for labor protection and norms, including “free issuance of cleaning and neutralizing agents to workers” (the norms are prescribed in order No. 1122N). In other words, companies are obliged to provide professional skin care for those employees who, in the course of their work, contact dangerous chemical or polluting substances or work in harmful conditions.

Until recently, DSIS was available only to employees of production, as enterprises purchased them in large batches and distributed among employees. But a few years ago, the manufacturers of DSIS showed concern for us and us, because every day, at work or at home, we encounter a whole “fan” of harmful factors for the skin: chemical compounds, dust, extreme solar radiation, allergens.

Consider what kind of professional protection is, on a specific example. If a person works in complex production, say, at oil refining, he must be appropriately dressed: a protective suit, a helmet, gloves, shoes, a face mask (if needed). The listed equipment – tools for protecting a person in dangerous working conditions, they are issued by the enterprise. But in the process of working, you sometimes have to remove gloves, as certain types of work need to be done with your bare hands. In this case, the skin will not be protected from engine oil, dyes, chemicals, moisture, dust, temperature changes.

Of course, such contacts do not lead to anything good. First, there may be a simple skin irritation, which risks passing into dermatitis, inflammation, eczema. Precisely to prevent this danger, the Ministry of Health together with the OSH engineers created a series of DSIS and forced them to use them in production.

The means for individual skin protection are divided into:

1. Creams that are applied to the skin before work. In turn, they are:
– hydrophilic, absorbing moisture and moisturizing the surface of the skin, which makes it much easier then to wash the dirt from your hands;
– hydrophobic, repellent moisture, they are used during direct contact with water and chemical compounds;
– protecting against such natural factors as UV radiation, temperature changes, wind;
– protecting from insects.

2. Pastes, gels, soaps that cleanse the skin after work and are able to do without harm to the skin. flush engine oil, glue, paint, varnishes, which otherwise are rubbed off with gasoline, solvent, sandpaper.

3. Regenerating creams and emulsions . Of course, their use does not promise you the cultivation of a new finger on your hand, just as a lizard again grows its tail. But the damaged skin is restored several times faster, even the one that has already suffered the impact of severe working conditions in the workplace. These remedies remove redness, peeling, irritation and dryness, heal microcracks, remove unpleasant feeling of tightness.

It should be noted that people working in constant contact with the harmful environment, the sensitivity of the skin is increased, so its protection and care should be as natural and gentle as possible. For this reason, the manufacturers of DMSI use skin care components that are useful for the skin, including complexes of vitamins, essential oils, antioxidants, plant extracts. Some of them do not contain silicones, parabens, dyes and preservatives, which is even more useful for sensitive skin.

The question arises, why do this information to ordinary people, because we work on absolutely no harmful work, and someone is only engaged in household activities?

Of course, these protection measures are not necessary for everyone, ordinary problems are easily handled by cosmetics, which can be obtained in ordinary stores. But if you often come in contact with detergents or water, if you are an artist, paint with oil paints or like to dig in the garden and even have a whole flower greenhouse, or plan to make major repairs, you want to move the engine yourself – in other words, if the work does not wait , and the health of the skin – not in the last place, then the DSIS will not be superfluous.

Another important point is the cost. Buying DSIS, you do not overpay, at a price they do not exceed the cost of a good hand cream in the supermarket. But be sure to read the instructions before use to know exactly how and when to use this tool.
